Broadcasts

A broadcast sends one email to a whole contact list at once: newsletters, announcements, release notes. Broadcasts go out on the broadcast stream, kept separate from your transactional mail so bulk sending can't drag down receipts and password resets.

Send a broadcast

Open Broadcasts → New, pick the list to send to, choose or write the content (you can reuse a template), and send. Track opens, clicks, and unsubscribes on the broadcast's page afterward.

One-click unsubscribe (required)

Every broadcast includes a one-click unsubscribe. This is required by Gmail and Yahoo for bulk senders and protects your reputation. It's far better for a recipient to unsubscribe than to mark you as spam. Opt-outs are enforced automatically via suppressions.

Deliver well

  • Send only to people who opted in (see Contacts & lists).
  • Warm up gradually and keep volume steady; sudden spikes look like spam.
  • Authenticate your domain (SPF/DKIM/DMARC): see

Deliverability best practices.

Transactional vs broadcast

Use the default transactional stream for one-to-one mail (via the API) and broadcast for bulk. Never send bulk on the transactional stream. Mixing them risks your critical mail.
